SCORM export

Export a course as a SCORM package (1.2 or 2004) to run in your LMS, either dynamic (stays linked to Coassemble and auto-updates) or standalone (a self-contained, static file).

You can export a course as a SCORM package to upload into your own LMS or other environment that supports SCORM. Coassemble supports SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004, in two types: dynamic, which keeps a live link to Coassemble, and standalone, which is a fully self-contained file.

Export a SCORM package

  1. Open the Share dialog from a course card or the top of the editor.
  2. Select the Export SCORM tab.
  3. Choose the format: SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004.
  4. Choose the type: Dynamic or Standalone.
  5. Set where it can run (see below), then select Export SCORM file to download it and upload it to your LMS.

Dynamic vs standalone

  • Dynamic SCORM keeps a live connection to Coassemble. Edits you make in Coassemble update automatically for learners, with no re-export or re-upload. It requires an active Coassemble subscription to keep working.
  • Standalone SCORM is a self-contained ZIP that runs independently of Coassemble, ideal for offline or high-security environments. It's a static snapshot, so to update it you edit in Coassemble, export a new package, and replace the file in your LMS.

Control where your SCORM can run

For dynamic SCORM, you can protect your content by setting where it's allowed to run:

  • Anywhere: runs on any LMS.
  • Only sites I choose: add approved domains to an allowlist (enter the full URL, including https://).
  • Nowhere: disables the package so it can't be launched.

Changing these settings affects all previously downloaded packages for that course.

SCORM and translations

If your course has translations, the SCORM package respects them: learners get the course in the language that matches their environment, the same way translations behave in Coassemble. Re-export and replace the package in your LMS after adding or changing translations so the latest versions are included (standalone packages are static snapshots; dynamic packages stay linked).

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit the exported standalone ZIP directly?

No. Standalone packages are static deliverables. To make changes, edit the course in Coassemble and export a new SCORM package.

Will my LMS get my latest changes automatically?

With Dynamic SCORM, yes, edits flow through the live connection. With Standalone SCORM, no, you re-export and re-upload to update.

Which SCORM formats are supported?

SCORM 1.2 and SCORM 2004.
